Oh La La La !

Promenade operetta

26 June – 01 July 2026

Oh La La La !When drama becomes music

There's nothing like theatre to bring different generations together and rekindle the magic of a concert.

With Oh La La La !, the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine invites you on a musical journey full of fantasy, where childhood innocence dialogues in music with adult nostalgia. From the mischievous spontaneity of bawdy songs to the light and sparkling tunes of operettas, the programme celebrates joy, dreams and the pleasure of singing together.

Between bursts of laughter and gentle melancholy, Poulenc, Offenbach, Cole Porter and many others provide the soundtrack to this tender and fun-filled journey, where memories and imagination intertwine. A timeless moment, where seriousness fades away to make way for enchantment, playfulness and that precious carefree spirit that brings young and old together.

‘Youkali is the land of our desires,
Youkali is happiness and pleasure.
Youkali is the land where we leave all our worries behind, In our night, it is a ray of sunshine, the star we follow.’
Youkali by Kurt Weill

A film and a book to delve deeper:

  • Kirikou et la sorcière (Michel Ocelot, 1998): An African tale of cunning, bravery and tenderness.
  • Max and the Maximonsters (Maurice Sendak): When a child sets off on a journey to an imaginary world populated by monsters... but ends up returning home, where he is loved.
